Robin Williams is a good actor. Now, before you protest and name all the terrible movies he’s been in, think of the good ones he has played amazing roles for. Patch Adams. Dead Poets Society. Good Will Hunting for God’s sake! This man can be hilarious and creepy beyond all creepiness (see One Hour Photo). But in World’s Greatest Dad, he’s just a melancholy, failed writer trying to be the world’s greatest dad. It is a dark comedy that portrays the reality of being a human kid and being a human father trying to provide support for said human kid… and it’s not easy. There are definitely some excellent, hilarious scenes in the movie. Be sure to visit Film Geeks next week to discuss the movie!
