Synopsis:
Willard is a 2003 horror film loosely based on the novel Ratman’s Notebooks by Stephen Gilbert and a remake of the 1971 film of the same name. It was not billed as a remake by the producers, but as a re-working of the themes from the original, with a stronger focus on suspense.

What to say about Willard. This movie is very creepy and dark, but it also has some deep themes that are universal. Willard, played perfectly by Crispin Glover, is a lonely man who works at his father’s business under a menacing boss (another perfectly cast actor: R. Lee Ermey). Willard is late everyday because he has to take care of his dying mother in a big house that just so happens to have rats in the basement. After catching a white mouse, then saving him and naming him Socrates, he realizes… he can control the rats. Things really start to change after that. With a bit of a Tim Burtonish style to it, Willard will creep you out and induce compassion simultaneously.
